Book Reviewed: The 4-Hour Body by Timothy Ferriss

I received my preordered copy of The 4 Hour Body by Timothy Ferriss, and wow, it was a real page turner. Tim warns you in the beginning that you shouldn’t read the whole thing cover to cover, but this was actually a hard bargain because his writing style is so easy and conversational.

The book is HUGE- clocks in at a formidable nearly 600 pages, but it is divided into portions based on what you’d like to accomplish. I decided to give his Slow Carb diet a try, starting today, after getting pretty sick of my current lazy diet of too many high cal carbs and junk.

While the book seems large, it really is written for goal oriented reading.  Each selection is about 100 pages, which goes really fast with Tim Ferrris’s easygoing writing style.

I really liked this book.  Tim includes the science behind the approaches he’s used to lose body fat and gain muscle mass at astonishing rates.  Photo evidence is included.

I decided also, to give this PAGG stack supplementation protocol a try.

In The 4-Hour Body, Tim suggests that these 4 supplements are the 4 horsemen of sustained fat loss which have a synergistic effect when put together:

  • Policosanol: 20-25mg
  • Alpha-lipoic acid: 100-300mg
  • Green tea flavanols: 325mg (decaffeinated)
  • Garlic extract

Rather than taking these 4 different pills, 4 times a day, this is the best PAGG Supplement I’ve found anywhere. This is definitely worth it if you want to bring the price down and add convenience to your PAGG supplementation routine.

In The 4-Hour Body, Tim explains what you can do to prevent gaining fat during off days, and how he saved his six pack during a month long vacation.  Wouldn’t we all like to know how to binge for a whole month and keep our six pack (like the up and coming holidays)? Tim explains how he preserves his body even in the face of rampant vacation eating.

Also, if you want to only do one exercise for the rest of your life… what is it?  Here’s a hint.

The Bottom Line- The 4-Hour Body Review

I absolutely recommend The 4-Hour Body by Tim Ferriss.  I’m implementing Timothy Ferriss’ strategies for fat loss and muscle building myself at home, hoping for some impressive ‘after’ photos myself. I did my first day of slow carb today and am not hungry.  I feel like I could easily eat this way long term, especially if the protocol is to eat whatever I want for a whole day each week.  Cinnamon rolls galore, it is!

For a  nearly 600-page book which is incredibly well researched by Tim, The 4-Hour body is a steal at $15. Don’t take my word for it though, check it out for yourself here.
