<p>I recently had the pleasure of checking out Leigh Peele&#8217;s new food system, <em>Body by Eats</em>. I have to say that Leigh Peele has really done it again with her new book.  The system starts off with a very interesting setup for change your mindset about food.  She debunks common mis-perceptions about nutrition, and explains research behind common food issues.</p>
<p>In addition to the great recipes and delicious food, this book answers the questions that come up after the confusing media machine that has buy-in for what we eat like:</p>

<p>And, since the whole point is the food, <em>Body By Eats</em> also has over a 100 great, healthy recipes.</p>
<h3><strong>Pros</strong></h3>
<p>If you love food, you&#8217;ve come to the right place.  Leigh Peele does too, and she won&#8217;t tell you to throw out everything you love and start eating boneless, skinless chicken breasts and broccoli for every meal.  The <em>Body By Eats</em> system is full of recipes, and good ones too.</p>
<p>I highly recommend that you get the whole enchilada program, the Gold version, that comes with the desserts and bulking cookbooks, because really, more options are better, especially when you&#8217;re looking for something sweet or trying to do something specialized like bulk up.  But at any rate, go for the gold, and get the whole thing.  This is your health we&#8217;re talking about.</p>
<p><em>Body By Eats</em> will help you figure out what is right for you in regards to what you eat, it is not full of preachy rules and half truths.  Leigh is devoted to helping you figure out what you&#8217;re doing right and what could be changed, but best of all who you actually are in regards to what you eat.</p>
<p>There is a  lot of information about issues that keep coming up in the media that are confusing and misleading.  This is a book for people who THINK ABOUT what they&#8217;re eating, and are trying to do the right thing (even when they don&#8217;t always know what that is).</p>
<p>Best of all, you get the benefit of Leigh&#8217;s personal research and experience with personal training, which is worth its weight in gold.</p>
<p>If you&#8217;ve tried lots of diets in the past and failed miserably because you didn&#8217;t like the food and always kept coming back to that, this is the book for you.</p>
<p>All of the information is delivered in Leigh Peele&#8217;s typical humorous manner.  It is impossible to read anything she writes and actually be bored.  I read a lot of nutrition books for this site, and frankly, most sound like VCR instructions.  I find my eyes glazing over and just hoping for it to end quickly.  This is never the case with Leigh&#8217;s book, or her previous book, <a rel="nofollow" href="http://fitnessgremlin.com/recommends/1528flts/"><em>The Fat Loss Troubleshoot</em></a> (which is amazing if you&#8217;ve hit a fat loss plateau by the way).</p>

<h3>Cons</h3>
<p>You have to be ready to examine your own misconceptions about your diet.  This is truly about food and your relationship with it.  Leigh doesn&#8217;t provide you with a strict &#8220;eat this, eat that&#8221; plan, it is more open ended.  But that is the genius and beauty of it.  She provides the tools to figure out what could work for you in regards to what you eat, but you have to pick them up and use them.</p>
<p>This is a nutritional system for thinkers, and people willing to work.  If you need a cut and paste &#8220;diet&#8221; where someone tells you exactly what to eat from day to day, this is not your system.  If you want hand holding, this is not your system.  If you want to eat great food and look great too, this is your system.</p>
<h3>Conclusion</h3>
<p><em>Body By Eats </em>is filled with delicious recipes, awesome research and it is compulsively readable.  My eyes didn&#8217;t glaze over, I didn&#8217;t skim, Leigh Peele drew me in and I read this book in one sitting. Afterward, I wanted to go to the store to get ingredients to cook with even though it was 1 o&#8217;clock in the morning.</p>
<p>I printed out the recipes and got the whole thing made into a paper copy so I can take it into the kitchen.  I don&#8217;t do that very often, there are few systems that capture my attention so strongly and drive me to action.  After reading Leigh&#8217;s other book, <a rel="nofollow" href="http://fitnessgremlin.com/recommends/1528flts/"><em>The Fat Loss Troubleshoot</em></a>, and knowing what magic that can work on one&#8217;s fat loss plateaus, I trust that <a href="http://fitnessgremlin.com/recommends/1528bbe/"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-1553" title="Body By Eats" src="http://fitnessgremlin.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/body11.jpg" alt="Body By Eats" width="250" height="208" /></a>Leigh Peele knows what she&#8217;s talking about.  She has definitely done it again with <em>Body By Eats</em>.</p>

<p><strong>Question:</strong> What do you do and what lead you into this industry?</p>
<p><strong>Answer:</strong> Heh depends on the day but most of the time I find myself training people or writing to help them.  I got in this field, and please forgive me for the cliché, to help people.  I also saw that there was a hole in the industry for the types of things I had to say or more so the way I say them. Different people  can help you in different ways. I think there is room for multiple cooks in the kitchen when they are all contributing something valuable to the table.</p>

<p><strong>Question:</strong> Do you only work in fat loss?</p>
<p><strong>Answer:</strong> No not at all, but it is my specialty. I read through a lot of research and I find nutrition and weight loss to be my constant draws. It also brings about the highest levels of gratification if I can be truly honest. I love helping someone increasing their athletic performance. I love helping a skinny guy add on muscle but, there is something though about seeing a person transform in front of your eyes and melt away into this new person. It’s downright addictive.</p>
<p><strong>Question: </strong>Your first release <a rel="nofollow" href="http://fitnessgremlin.com/recommends/1345flts/">The Fat Loss Troubleshoot</a> has been very successful, congratulations. Can you give a brief rundown of what that book is about?</p>
<p><strong>Answer: </strong> Thanks. Really it is a package/collection of multiple sources of material. It is way beyond just a book at this point and will continue to be so as it is constantly updated.  In short, the package is about fat loss almost any way you slice it.</p>
<p>Can you please everyone all the time? No, but you can answer them and that is what I have done. Everyone from bodybuilders to recovering anorexics are covered in this collection. There are program designs, explanations about various myths and nutritional strategies.  It literally puts you in control of fat loss so that you don’t blindly follow a program no knowing why it didn’t work.</p>
<p>Take something like Billy Blanks Tae-Bo system. Millions of people have bought this system and for some people it works but for most it does not. This is because people don’t understand how it is supposed to work in the first place. They think that a different dvd is going to cause a different reaction and it doesn’t work that way. You have to understand how fat loss works first and then if you want to get creative about how to go about it, fine.</p>
<p>I am about teaching you the science; the facts. While I give you multiple methods to apply it the truth is that you have control to go even more outside the box and custom for you once you learned it.</p>
<p><strong>Question:</strong> It is currently unavailable due to updates correct? When will you re-release it?</p>
<p><strong>Answer: </strong> Correct. I am updating it for re-release but it will be available for the 3 day launch of Body By Eats as addition if the customer so desires to select it. It release to the public in regular fashion will at least be the beginning of next year. However everyone who buys ANY version of it will always get updates for free.</p>
<p><strong>Question:</strong> So let’s talk about Body By Eats. What is the basic premises of the book?</p>
<p><strong>Answer: </strong> Originally I called it “The Caloric Burn Cookbook” because I was going to focus primarily on my research with caloric burn in everyday movement and how important general activity was to achieving your fat loss goal. Caloric burn is not static, is is forever changing an always will be. Cooking is an amazing way to achieve that burn and in turn you become connected to food in the right way. You only need to make manipulations of that in small amounts while trying to achieve your goals.</p>
<p>The most important aspect though is about embracing food. I want people to embrace it, love to eat and cook amazing food. I want to remove the idea from their heads that healthy food is bland food.  The best chefs in the world use whole fresh ingredients to make the most amazing food and most of the time the calories are not that high. It is all about perception.</p>
<p>One twist thrown in the book is about the public health and food as a whole.  I was writing the book I started to get really caught up in the constant discussions that were occurring about the food industry. Things like HFCS and the use of organics. I had personally been someone who bought organic foods and went out of my way to support local farming and businesses. I started learning more about it and realized, like most things in life, what I thought I knew wasn’t  true at all.</p>
<p>So the book kind of took this turn where it was about all of it. Embracing life, our health, activity, etc.</p>
<p><strong>Question:</strong> What kinds of things are you covering with Body By Eats that other people aren’t?</p>
<p><strong>Answer: </strong> Truthfully I can say that I have not read any of this stuff published yet and that in general my outlook on food and intake for results are not common. I am a little outside of the box all the way because I not only believe in balance and moderation with enjoyment, I can prove that it is good for you. I mix science with common sense and wrap it in a mouth watering dessert. I don’t think that has been done yet ha.</p>
<p><strong>Question:</strong> Do you feel the site is just as important as the book?</p>
<p><strong>Answer: </strong>It is crucial. In fact part of me was thinking of not releasing actual books at all but instead keeping it just to a site.  I decided against that though mainly because different people have different time constraints. Not everyone is going to want to participate in the site as much as even they want to.</p>
<p>I look at the book and the recipes as a introduction into this knowledge and a stepping stone for using the site and the forums to go deeper in that knowledge. Also getting a chance to talk to me 1-on-1 in a month is good to because a lot can be resolved  faster with verbal dialogue.</p>
<p>The site is crucial and I am expecting a lot of people who can offer help and those who need help.</p>
<p><strong>Question:</strong> Let’s talk about my favorite part, the food.  This is a really nice collection of recipes right?</p>
<p><strong>Answer:</strong> Absolutely.  With the first package alone you are going to receive 100+ recipes to work with and then each month you get a new book with 30 recipes. You will have a new recipe to use every day for the entire year and then some. There are also chances to win additional recipe books if need.</p>
<p>These aren’t your standard run of the mill recipes either. They take macros into account like other books don’t. You can measure in grams or cups. You have all the stats you need and you have use and other members for support on how to do something if you mess up or get stuck. There will also be videos, general food tips, and more.</p>
<p><strong>Question:</strong> So your products are vegetarian/vegan friendly?</p>
<p><strong>Answer:</strong> There will be a specific download for vegetarians and vegans and there will be new recipe in the future as well. Body By Eats is 100% vegetarian friendly.  There will also be other groups like Gluten and even other cultures like Thai addressed. Even kids will be getting a bonus manual  as the months go by.</p>
<p><strong>Question: </strong>If you could only get one point across about Body By Eats what would it be?</p>
<p><strong>Answer:</strong> <strong>Body By Eats</strong> is about the concept of getting back to the good in life and not being afraid of food but embracing <a href="http://fitnessgremlin.com/recommends/1345bbe/"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-1363" title="Body by Eats by Leigh Peele" src="http://fitnessgremlin.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/body12.jpg" alt="Body by Eats by Leigh Peele" width="250" height="208" /></a>it. <p>So does it work?  Holly&#8217;s Fit Yummy Mummy program is built on sound nutritional and workout principles.  If you follow it, it will help you lose your baby weight.  But you must stick to the program, there is no magic here.  If you do what Holly recommends and are thorough with your eating habits and workouts, you&#8217;ll definitely be able to reshape your body into a much leaner fit version.</p>

<p>Holly starts the book with a section on goal setting, because it is crucial to know what you are trying to achieve. Next she moves to some important basics about your metabolism.  Then she gets into the meat of the program&#8230; the food.  Her program is a lifestyle change based on whole, clean food.  You won&#8217;t be hungry on this plan because she recommends eating at least every 3-3 1/2 hours.</p>
<h3>Nutrition Plan</h3>
<p>The nutrition plan is very complete, yet easy to follow if you simply plan ahead and chart out what you&#8217;re planning on eating in advance.  She recommends cooking meals in advance so you aren&#8217;t a slave to your kitchen.  There is a portion of the book about eating out, snacks and cheat meals, and explains exactly WHY you should follow the plan as well as a road map to reach your weight loss goals.</p>
<p>What I really like about the program is that it isn&#8217;t a recipe for deprivation.  Holly explains how to eat at restaurants healthfully to stay on track.  There aren&#8217;t any banished foods, she just explains mindfulness about what you eat and WHY you should avoid junk food, and alternatives.  The section about slip-ups is genius because it explains why you shouldn&#8217;t worry if you aren&#8217;t perfect, and what to do to immediately get back on track.</p>
<p>I really like the section about alternative foods to eat as snacks instead of hitting the junk food.  Since it is a lifestyle change program, there aren&#8217;t any gimmicky concepts (no liquid diet, no strange foods, no punishment).  The nutritional section is solid, and applicable.  I could go in my kitchen tonight and recreate the meals without breaking a sweat.</p>
<h3>Workout Plan</h3>
<p>Next stop is the workout program (where I hope you break a sweat).  I really like how Holly explains why being a &#8220;cardio queen&#8221; is a bad thing, and how you should change it.  She explains resistance training and why it is essential for getting the lean, fit body everyone seems to be trying for (I&#8217;m not at a loss for why, Holly looks great).</p>
<p>The workout program is a very effective interval-based training program.  There is a 16 week workout schedule that you customize based on four different formats based on your own personal goals.  It looks complicated at first but really isn&#8217;t as hard as it looks once you reach the section that contains photos of Holly doing the exercises.  I would definitely print this part out to refer back to it.</p>
<p>One really great part about the workout section is that you can do these moves with minimal time and equipment, so they are really great for fitting into your already jam packed schedule (baby napping? do planks!!).  You can get these workouts done with a mat, simple dumbells, a bench or a step, swiss ball and medicine ball.  That is super minimal when you compare it with a bunch of hulky gym equipment.</p>
<p>The index contains goal setting worksheets, how to create your own workout journal, sample menus, information about food labels,  grocery shopping survival tips, a fat loss troubleshooting checklist, and a whole bunch of extra exercises in an archive with full instructions.</p>
<p>Also, this program comes with tons of bonuses.  Holly includes 9 bonus ebooks; a cellulite cure, Fast Easy Meals, Meal Plans 101, 6 Minute Circuit Workouts, a 7 Minute Quick Start Guide, the Dress Size Reduction Diet, the New Mom&#8217;s Jumpstart, the Stylish Mom ebook and an additional Nutrition Guide.  To top it off, there is an audio book about getting organized so you can fit fitness into your day without losing your mind.</p>
<p>Bottom line, this is the complete package for changing your body and getting a lean, fit physique you can be proud of.</p>
<h3>Downsides</h3>
